Namak Pare is the snack that lives in a steel dabba on top of the fridge. Ours is whole wheat, lightly salted, cut by hand and baked rather than fried — crisp enough to matter, without the oil that usually comes with it.

The savoury shelf is where the worst ingredient lists usually hide: MSG, anti-caking agents, artificial flavour enhancers and palm oil. There are none of those here. Namak Pare needs flour, ajwain, salt, cold-pressed oil and heat, and that is genuinely what is in the pack.
It is the 5 PM snack in most Indian homes, and it holds up to a strong cup of tea better than anything sweet. A 300 g pouch is about a week for one person; families tend to reorder the 500 g.
